The school is composed of 100,000 alumni of "Kainan Commercial and Industrial". In order to realize the ideals of the Kainan Academy and demonstrate the determination to renew the environment, the school has been loved and supported by the Taoyuan folks. It has officially enrolled students since August 2000.
Due to the excellent professional teachers and the pursuit of excellence in teaching, the school's performance has been evaluated as an excellent university in the 2004 academic year, so it was approved to be officially renamed Kainan University on August 1, 2006.
The department began enrolling students in August 2002, and since August 2006, it has also been approved to establish a master's program in the research institute.
